What is Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Rheumatoid Arthritis is an inflammatory disease which affects the joints in the human body. It is an auto-immune syndrome where the body immune system attacks its own tissues by mistaking its own joint linings leading to swelling and pain.
The disorder affects the body symmetrically and can also damage other parts of the body like blood vessels, eyes, lungs, heart, etc.
The symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis are joint stiffness due to inactivity in morning, pain and swelling in joints and muscles, weight loss, anaemia, rashes and redness in skin.
Rheumatoid Arthritis has no permanent cure but the medicines related to arthritis helps to prevent and control damage to the body.
The inflammation, pain, and flares in the body can be reduced by medication. Anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), corticosteroids, conventional anti-rheumatic and biologic drugs are some of the medicines.
Physical Exercising, Heating or Cold pads application on affected places in body helps to reduce the pain in the body.
Yoga and meditation also helps.
