What is Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD)?
Mixed Connective Tissue Disease is a rarely found autoimmune disorder that has three tissue diseases named systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, and polymyositis. It is mostly observed in the women under 30 years age. Some of the people affected with MCTD might have symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Symptoms
Arthritis, kidney diseases, weakness in muscles and lung abnormalities are the most frequently observed symptoms in MCTD .
Treatment
Treatment includes medications such as NSAIDs, corticosteroids, immune-suppressive drugs that control the symptoms of MCTD. Also, many new anti-rheumatic medications have recently been developed for the treatment of this disease.
