What is Osteoporosis ?
Osteoporosis is a condition occurring due to the weakening of bones and it increases the chances of a broken bone due to the weakness and brittleness. Osteoporosis leads to the fractures commonly in the hip, wrist or spine. This disease occurs when the creation of new bone doesn’t replace the old bone with matching speed.
Symptoms
Back pain caused by fractured vertebra, stooped posture, weak bones and loss of height are the symptoms observed in Osteoporosis. The symptoms are not observed in early stages of bone loss but found once the bones start weakening.
Treatment
Vitamin D, Calcium supplements, Bisphosphonates and Bone forming agents are some of the medications used in the treatment of Osteoporosis. Some of the self-care treatments that patient should follow are physical exercises and healthy diets that can control this medical condition.
