What is Gout?
Gout is one form of inflammatory arthritis which is observed in people with high levels of uric acid in blood. The pain in gout is mainly due to the formation of needle like crystals in joints that causes swelling, redness and pain. There are different stages of Gout like formation of acid in joints, spiking of uric acid levels, low level inflammation in intervals, chronic pains due to uric acid, etc.
Intense joint pains, discomfort in the joints due to long lasting pain, redness and swelling due to inflammation and reduction in smooth movement of joints are some of the most observed symptoms in Gout.
Analgesics, Anti-inflammatory drugs and Uric acid lowering agents are the medications that can control Gout. Drinking plenty of fluids, consuming low fat dairy products, maintaining ideal body weight, avoiding alcohol and purine rich foods are some of the measures that need to be followed by the patients suffering from Gout.
